Teacher Book Club

Do you devour books so fast that you're constantly looking for new ones to read? If so, then join our Book Club. Bring in those already-read books and swap them out for other gems that have been brought in. The books are housed in the Professional Room.

Book Consideration File

Teachers, soon the Media Center will be preparing its book purchases for next year. If you have a book in mind that you would like the Media Center to include, please email me in the Media Center.

Student Media Festival

The Student Media Festival is underway. Teachers, please encourage your students to submit projects. They are always welcome to work on their projects in the Media Center. Projects are due in the Media Center February 25.

Winter BookFair

The Book Fair is scheduled for February 14 - 25. Please make plans to come by and browse.

Collaboration

"Effective collaboration with teachers helps to create a vibrant and engaged community of learners, strengthens the whole school program as well as the library media program, and develops support for the school library media program throughout the whole school" (Information Power, 1998, AASL, p. 51).

I am looking forward to working with you and your students this year. I plan to attend one of your grade-level meetings each month so we can work to design cooperative lessons and put together the best resources for your students. Cooperative planning by the teacher and library media specialist combines information skills and classroom curriculum and results in more constructive learning. I will send you a Monthly Skills Lesson schedule shortly.

What is NonFiction Monday?

Bloggers celebrate Nonfiction Monday by writing about nonfiction books for kids on Monday. Stay tuned to this blog to read the reviews each week. Perhaps have your students start doing this!

So, you want to play football? This book will help you to understand the rules and develop your skills so you can be a good player. It covers the fundamentals of football including passing, rushing, receiving, blocking, defense, punting, and kicking. Great photographs illustrate the text to help you understand what is being said. This book is definitely a touchdown!
